Default Catalytic converter removal

Can I remove the catalytic converters on my 1996 AUDI a4 and straight pipe it? Is this possible to do and have no problems or will I have to do a few modifications to gain more hp? Need advice

Generally speaking, you will need to tune the ECU (software) before any hardware modifications will make any difference.
Sure an exhaust mod may sound good, but if it is purely a performance change you are looking for, start with software tuning.
