Iam driving a 2004 A4 Avant 1.8T in the CVT Multritronic i love my car and the performance from stock is almost satisfactory but then i read about you guys on audiforum.ca where i am a member. Ive only heard good from you and i am a little pumped now. My question is if you have had any experience with chipping cars just like mine. Is it safe for my tranny?? My car is excellent shape, regularly maintained and babied. I would appreciate any input you can give me! thanks Dan Reply Daniel, Yes the ECU upgrade will work perfectly with the CVT transmissions and these numbers are still with in the limitations of the factory parts. As well you can actually upgrade the car to stage 2+ without fear of damaging the CVT, however I wouldnt go beyond this level of modification as it could result in damage to the transmission. Beyond stage 2+ would be upgrading the turbocharger on the car which can put a little to much torque through the trans which it is not designed to handle. Chris Teague Technical Support Rep. Re: APR Tuning my Wagon
So now the question remains: Stop at stage I or take it up to stage II+? ;)

Re: APR Tuning my Wagon
Stage I alone will make a huge difference that you will totally feel. It's quite a difference for any turbocharged Audi.
Not to egg you on, but have you looked at stage I+? It could be the perfect happy medium. It's a slightly more aggressive software reflash and APR injectors. It adds another 20HP/35TQ over stage I just by adding APR injectors. |

I definetely wouldnt mind seeing the ppls faces when they see me pulling away! not long ago i raced a 220HP supercharged manual Saturn Ion Redline, race speed from 100kmh to 230kmh!!! later he asked me what engine i have!!!! lol, um just a 1.8T!:p |
Re: APR Tuning my Wagon
Also what if get the Carbon Fiber Air intake?? Looks cool and isnt top pricey and seems to benefit the car too.

Re: APR Tuning my Wagon
Your linky no worky.
I had the APR R1 DV on my 03 TT and it made quite a bit of difference from stage I all the way to stage II+. There's a lot of loyalty that is strongly divided between the two different type of DV. The APR unit uses the same principles as the OEM DV so I went with APR. That and everything else I had used from them worked really well. Now that there's a local APR dealer here in Regina, it makes even more sense. Audi's OEM air boxes have always rated extremely high against any aftermarket units out there. You might gain a couple of HP but they will never keep the MAF as clean as OEM. The other benefits are a more aggressive sound and of course the beauty of something carbon fiber under the hood. Personally I'd use the money from the intake and put it towards the injectors for more power right away. I'd look at doing the injectors at the same time as doing the software flash. That way you don't have to get the ECU flashed again if you upgrade the injectors at a later date. Add the intake, DV and hoses as you go and as you see fit. Start out at stage I+ and you'll beat that Saturn every time. |
