Default rear windows won't go up.

Kids in the back seat - rolled down the windows (as kids like to do).
Next thing I know the windows wont go back up.

using the window switches in the back doors or on the drivers panel was having no affect. The windows would go up an inch and then back down. I thought it might be some anti pinch feature gone funky.

I tried turning off the car and restarting - no difference.

after multiple tries of toggling the switch and pulling on the window, I was able to get the windows closed. On several of the tries, the window would go up several inches and then go back down.

now I'm scared to roll them down until I get it into the dealership at my next service.

your main control unit in the drivers side might need the contactors cleaned, or switches replaced. Best to vag-com it first.

It happens sometimes in the winter. You can also try using your key on the driver's door and closing the windows by holding the key on the "right" position.

thanks for the tips.

I have a trip to the dealer in the next week - I'll try the key trick once I drop it off a the dealer - then they can run the vag-com.

But now that I remember - I tried the key trick a few months back after reading aobut it in the manual and that was what caused a stuck window issue on by back right side window. So the dealer said the window one touch feature had to be set to on - which they did. then it was fine. Maybe they need to look at this again.

Dealer took off the door panels and said they needed lube - an unlikely solution in my opinion. Time will tell.

PS - cost me $79 for the lube of the window rails.

just to add: holding the key in the lock position will reset the pinch-control
