Audi R8 sold out in U.K.

Orders have already been placed for all 400 Audi R8s destined for the U.K. market, according to Britain's Channel 4. Deliveries won't begin until spring 2007, but already there's a fifty-person waiting list in case any of the 400 customers decide to cancel.

So far, there has been no word on U.S. sales figures, but we wouldn't be surprised to hear similar news out of Audi of America in the near future. The R8 has a 420 horsepower V8 powerplant from the RS4 and uses the mid-engine Lamborghini Gallardo platform. It costs around $100,000 in the United States and £77,000 in the U.K.
