Thumbs up Still a great car!

Hi All!
I'm a pilot living and flying out of the Vancouver area and the proud driver of a cream coloured 1993 Audi 90Q. I started out buying an automatic 90CS of the same year (and same colour, lol) for my girlfriend, and a few weeks later, found the 5-speed quattro for sale. It's a little ridiculous, I know. The cars look (almost) IDENTICAL. She's mortified, but what are you going to do?
Anyways, rather than spending $10,000 over the next 2 1/2 years on a lease and in the end own nothing (I just handed off my 2007 Mazda 3 Sport GT to some other sucker), I figured I could spend half that on a good used car, sink another few grand into it and end up owning a decent car. I have had a crush on Audi's since the rally hey-day years in the 80's and finally broke down and got one.
So, 2 cars, both expensive as hell to maintain. Brilliant, but I love them.
The 90CS blew a timing belt and is in the throws of a top-end rebuild. It also needs a tie-rod, ball-joint and left front headlight (works but is cracked and has some moisture behind lens). Rear brake-proportioning valve leaks, exhaust is patched and there's probably a few other things to be done, but not in a hurry.
The 90Q needs front wheel-bearing, tie-rod, pwr-steering leaks a little, small leak out of rear dif, cracked left front foglight, reverse lights don't work and the right rear reverse lens is split (maybe a switch problem too?). Needs tires by the fall. Again there are probably a few other things that will need doing, but not critical.
The upshot is, the electricals are good, they are beautiful cars, the 5-speed gearbox is smooth, I love driving the quattro and can't wait 'till next winter. When the work is done, these are going to be solid dependable automobiles. The finish and functionality are fantastic, they look great, the bodies are pretty much spotless, barely a scratch, and being galvanized, will keep pretty much indefinitely.
So, anybody have a good line on cheap quality used parts in the Vancouver area for my 2 sweet 1993 Audi 90's. I promise to post some ridiculous side-by side photos.
Cheers for now,
WingNut.

Good luck wingnut. Even if you sink $10 into the car over the next four years, you're way ahead compared to buying new, especially if it's the car you love to drive. (Now all you need is a bigger backyard so you can start collecting extra 90Qs as donor cars.)

Sounds like you got yourself a pair of great cars once you finish all the maintenence.

hey wingnut, welcome to the forum... have you checked the timing belt on your 90Q? Those things are finicky, as they are interference motors and when the timing belt goes it can cause havoc as you've found out...

The quattro is great in the winter and no comparison to a mazda 3.. but then again in Van you probably get no snow... so it's great in the rain Ha!

Thanks for the welcome, mate!
Yeah, I've had the belt on the Quattro looked at and it going into the shop to get both belts, the wheel bearing and tie-rod end done as soon as the 90CS comes out. I'm hoping that there will be a stretch without surprises after that, lol. I've already found it's great in the wet, but we do see the odd patch of snow here in the winter too, and we had a 4m base on the North Shore Mountains this year (whatever drops as rain in the city is snow on top). I hope to be doing a few trips to Whistler and the interior too.
Cheers,
