Hey, just bought a 2001 Audi A4 1.8T 5spd.
-123000 KM
-Blue on tan leather
-Bone Stock
-Everything works (knocks wood)
First of all, coming from driving a series of Jeeps and a minivan thrown in there for good measure, I love this car.
I've only owned the car for a week and have already had it in service position, changed the timing belt/tensioner/water pump/t-stat.
It passed safety last week without issue (bought it from Quebec, they don't do certs/e-tests there when selling used) back at Minute Muffler in Cobourg but, with the check engine light on (multiple misfires, high idle rpm, 0.4/18.9 lambda, 64.64 peak MAF reading...) it failed emissions testing.
Seafoamed first, then changed the oil, changed the plugs, changed the coil packs, changed the belt+, changed the MAF sensor and finally, changed the air filter.
Peak MAF is now 164.66g/s.
Lambda readings: 0.4/-0.7 ( logged for 3 hours, mix of highway and city)
Misfires: None.
Passed the e-test today by a country mile at Currie Tire in Peterborough. So now I'm plated and officially an A4 driver.
Just wanted to say hey to all the folks here who spend the time to write up their experiences with their cars. The help I've found online when researhing the B5 A4 has been just awesome. Hopefully I can help out others at some point.
Here's my B5:
