new, but not....

Hey all,

Well.... I've been here off and on for some time. I purchased my 2001 A6 4.2 just about a year ago, and prior to purchasing it, I used Audiforum.ca to learn about these cars.

Since buying the car, I've maintained it immaculately, and I've used many of the tips out here to take care of it.

My A6 has about 185,000 kms on it, and still looks new. It's developed some of the "typical" issues (clicking hazard relay, non-working driver door courtesy light) and I've taken care of a couple of the major things, like the most critical (and expensive) timing belt/water pump. Next on the list is a sticking EVAP valve.

My car prior to the A6 was a Toyota Celica. Having harding any issues with that vehicle at all, (it never went in for service in the 4 years I owned it) the Audi was a bit of a change of pace. While it hasn't been terrible, it's been in the shop three times in the year I've owned it. Not terrible by any stretch, but still way more than my Toyota.

The one nice thing through it all was having sites like Audiforum.ca to refer to. At least I had an idea on what to expect, and things that I could do to potentially prevent other maintenance problems. Unfortunately, I'm not set up with a full-on garage to do the major maintenance, so I leave that to my mechanic.

Looking forward to learning more about Audi's and I'll try to contribute here as I see fit!

Have a great weekend all!
