New Audi owner and already need help!!

Hey, I'm Tony from Ajax and am new to the Forum. Just bought my 2009 Audi A4 2 weeks ago and have been having the add oil light come up since day 2. I'm having it looked at by Audi this week.
Anything I should tell them to do? any information is appreciated.

Thanks,

I'm a new member too, and people don't seem to be helpful on here. I don't have an audi (yet... thinking about it) but, this is the oil consumption issue that the 2.0T have. There's lots of information on the internet about it. Basically there's an issues with oil consumption of these motors and audi was ignoring them until a class action lawsuit was filed (or going to be filed). Audi will perform a 2 stage test to solve the issue. It should be covered by them. if the first stage test does not fix it, the 2nd step is replacement of rings, pistons and maybe the block. That's what I've read.

Thanks popsicle_pete, Unfortunately I'm still working out some issues with car before I can do the oil consumption test, due to the fact that my engine light is on they can't do the test and I've been arguing with the dealership (not Audi) where I bought it to have them fix these problems as they came up a couple days after I bought the car. I'm getting Engine codes P0300, P3030 P0304 P0302, P0301, P2279, P2187,
I know the first 5 codes are misfires, they told me that the fact that I had a generic oil filter on the car that it could be causing some of the issues.
I've had nothing but drama with this car since I got it 2 weeks ago, not saying that they are all bad but be sure that if you buy one that you get it from a dealership that stands behind their cars just in case

I've just had my engine start to burn some oil at around 23K. Just curious, how much oil would you say you have gone through over this period?

I just bought my A4 with 98,000 km and had the issue since day one since I got it. I've seen others on here mention a few different mileages so it seems to me that it can happen at any time.
I'm adding about 1L / 1000 km

Nothing yet, I was at Audi last week and when they called the dealership where I bought the car from to approve the cost on getting rid of the engine light they refused to pay for anything. So I left Audi without getting anything done. I went straight to the dealership where I got the car and argued with him until he agreed to pay for part of the cost. Going into Audi this Thursday to have the check engine light taken care of ($272.00 just to diagnose the car what a rip) once that is fixed the will do part one of the oil consumption test. The saga continues.

Re: New Audi owner and already need help!!

On April 23rd I took my car into Audi where they did part 1 of the oil consumption test. Less than a month and 900 km later my oil light came on again so I brought it back to Audi. They are currently performing part 2 where they remove the oil and weight it. Once they get the results they have to contact Audi Canada to get authorization to replace the piston rings. Once they get the authorization they need to book a specialized mechanic to come in and do the work and was told that it will take about 3 days.

Re: New Audi owner and already need help!!

The results for part 2 of the oil consumption test was that I was losing 1.45 liters of oil per 1000 km. apparently Audi Canada thinks this is within the acceptable range and are not willing to do the repairs needed under warranty.
The Audi dealership who performed the test thinks that this is unacceptable and that obviously there is a problem. They are going to try and convince Audi Canada to cover the repairs needed.
I just don't understand how Audi Canada can think that adding almost 20 liters of oil between oil changes in considered normal??????!!!!!!!

Re: New Audi owner and already need help!!

So after some back and forth and having an Audi Canada rep drive my car for a week it has finally been approved to have the pistons and rings changed. Audi has had my car for just over 2 weeks now and now are going to order the parts to have the repairs done. At least I was provided a loaner car from Audi during the time they've had my car. I hope this helps out anyone else having this issue.

Hi AjaxAudi,
I think you are one of the lucky ones, as I was not so lucky. Audi Corporate does not want to approve the changes to my car, and now my car has become more damaged. I would highly suggest selling that car FAST, as my problems have escalated to the point that my car is now parked and will require $7,000 in repairs. I am suing Audi Canada and hopefully there can be a proper class action suit put forth.

@Torontoyes,

I'm sorry to hear about your problems, at first Audi Canada didn't want to fix mine either but the assistant service manager at Uptown Audi in Markham helped convince them that it was burning way too much oil and that they should have a look. It took the Audi Canada rep a week of driving my car to see that the oil light comes on after about 600 km after an oil change and that's when they agreed to look at it and do a couple of more tests. Only after those tests they agreed to change the pistons. I also had all of the service history on the car which may have helped with the process.
I wish you good luck and I hope they fix what they have admitted is their issue.
