Greetings

I would like to introduce myself the Audi Community.

My name is Nick and I currently live in British Columbia, Canada.

I am the proud owner of a 2001 Audi A4 1.8T in silver with Quattro and it has about 67,000 kilometers. My car is completely stock, according to the first owner (whom I bought it off). According to the dealership that sold me this car, it is completely stock and I have found nothing that goes against what they said, except that my car has a rear spoiler painted in the same silver of the car. I have searched the Internet for the same vehicle (including the spoiler) but have found none.

Since I was born in Germany, I value the quality of this car and have not had any problems with it, except for recently when a coil wasn't working. I am a mechanic and I do all of the maintenance and work myself.

Hey Nick welcome to the forum. Great to have a mechanic join us. Keep in touch and post up some pics. Wow 2001 with only 67K on it ...... great find.

Thank you kindly for the welcome!

She was a great find, and my favourite first car of all time. I used to always use my parents' cars or take the bus.

I will get up some pics soon, but right now I only have pictures on my phone which I cannot yet transfer onto my computer. They should be up in a day or two.

I really like the B5 model years. the car looks great from the back once its lowered a bit.

Re: Greetings

That is also one thing I forgot to mention. I also believe it is lowered since I have scraped the back bottom plastic the first time I went over a speed bump. Now I have to maintain a speed of about 2km/h going over speed bumps! I'll be sure to compare the stock rear suspension with the suspension of my Audi.

Have the same problem with my car so I avoid speed bumps at all cost.

Re: Greetings

I've always been a fan of the B5 as well.

One thing to point out would be the timing belt, might want to get that done sooner than later, 10 year old car with 67K, it's gonna be getting dry/rotted by now, but I could be wrong. Inspect it closely, would hate for you do have a timing belt failure on a new to you car. And a full fluid service would be a good idea, brake fluid for sure would be top on my list as this car has probably sat more than it was driven.

I know most people do it at about 100K kms on 1.8Ts but it would be extra insurance to prolong the engine life and peace of mind.

There's no fun in speed bumps...

Thank you for your input Jay.

We did a full fluid change when we bought the car including oil, brake, coolant, etc. New brakes were installed before the purchase by the dealership, although they bought the cheapest possible where brake pad grime starts to accumulate on the rims. Brakes are going to be done when the snow has melted.

I know the timing belt is a frequent problem for Audis at around 80,000 kilometers, but it is still without cracks. I'll make sure to have a look at it every time I check fluids.

I have to say, I love the wide stance on the B5s which I've compared to the newer, slightly slimmer A4s.

Re: Greetings

I used Akebono Ceramic pads with new OEM rotors on my VW Golf when it needed a full change at all four corners, no dust on my wheels and they are great OEM replacement for a good price.

Not sure if we can post websites, but I got mine from autopartsway.ca, best prices i've found online.
