I am currently trying to get my 99 a4 quattro running safe and decent. Just bought it used off a person that used it as a "get around" vehicle around his recycling center bcuz his daughter couldn't grasp manual. The engine wasn't taken care of as well as it coulda been so I'm trying to rejuvenate til I can save some more money. I got parts for the emissions system so i can pass state guidelines, which I wanna do as mochas I can myself since I just finished cert schooling. Kinda like self teaching/learning on this model. I noticed some leaking, decent amount of gunked oil, so I knew valve cover gasket was shot. Smoking coming from under it started up today, I wanna clean everything cus some mud is on it as well. A cross over off hose broke so I rigged up rubber hoses but I think the oil backing up in them expired in time I was trying to buy. So I got a cool temp sensor, valve cover gasket for bank1 passenger side of motor?, and cross over tubing for pcv valve and such. I may have to by a egr/combi valve, I believe that's what it's called? It's silver and behind the valve covers on both sides that look like they're going down to or attached to the cat? , something is causing the smoke and leak down to the bottom, making a lot of sluggy oil sections... I gotta clean this motor, and fix it slowly but yet be sage nd legal. Which only gives me a little bit.. learning this car, it will be the seed planted I need to accomplish goals in gonna complete. Please help n guide me as much as possible, everyone starts somewhere with knowledge and enjoyment, let's grow and learn together..
