2004 Audi s4 alternator help

I recently bought a 2004 Audi s4 and it needs some love. Alternator replacement, belt and tensioners for the alternator, valley pan gasket and valve cover gaskets. Audi estimates it to be about $5500. I know these fixes are labor intensive and expensive but I am wondering what people on this forum think about having a friend do it all for me. I have a friend who owns a shop and he is very handy with a wrench but he has never worked on a b6 engine or any Audi s4 ever. I do trust his work because i know other cars he has rebuilt are all running like new. He is very skilled but Does anyone think it would be foolish to let him do it? The Audi shop will empty my wallet but i know it will be done correctly. If I have my friend do it I will save thousands but I will end up with a rebuilt alternator. What are people’s opinions on rebuilt ACDELCO alternators? A new alternator for this car is supposedly about $1000 but I found a good rebuilt ACDELCO one for a little bit over $500. Please help me make a well informed decision. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.
