2003 Audi A4 Quattro 3.0L automatic
Help...My auto tranny went wacko. It was shifting OK then suddenly it disengaged and will not go into drive.
It will go into reverse no problem but I notice the dash display lights up but does not show what gear function is in play.
The service manager at the dealer thinks my problem is electronic possibly the TCM. If I disconnect and reset will this help??
I do have to replace my alternator as it is charging intermittently but I have a new battery installed. Not sure faulty charging would affect transmission function.
Any ideas..??

Is the floor wet on the passenger side? TCU is in the floor beneath the carpet if my memory is good on these. If the drains in the battery tray below the windsheild get clogged, it fills up and then flows in the ventilation through the firewall down to the floor. TCU is not 100% sealed so it will get wet.
Not saying this is your problem but it was a common issue even late 90's models.
