Re: 1994 Audi URS4 Hoppen/Lehman Original
From the man I bought it off of.
"The original owner was a fellow from IOWA(Martin G Carver this man's son http://www.hawkeyesports.com/facilities ... wkeye.html).When the car was brand new he had Joe Hoppen in Florida do all of the high performance mods on it including the Rs2 turbo and manifold and Stage IV chip and 'green high flow injectors. The head was shipped to Germany for porting and polishing and at the same time the owner bought 5 balanced pistons. The suspension was changed to Eiback springs and Bilstein shocks PLUS he swapped the 5 speed transmission for a European 6 Speed at a cost of $4000 just for the exchange. Cost didn't seem to be an object with this guy. Hoppen in Florida said this guy was loaded and literally had a fleet of high performance cars. There wasn't a Porsche brake conversion at that time so the only change Hoppen did to the brakes was Pagid brake pads. I spoke with Hoppen in Florida about the car and they sent me copies of all the records they had when they did the work when the car was brand new in 1994. A fellow in Denver Colorado bought the car in 2002 from a dealer in Minnesota that had bought it from the fellow in IOWA, and at which time it had 44k on it. He put MOMO wheels on it which were very pretty but one of the wheels developed a crack and couldn't be repaired. (the Italian MOMO wheel is very soft material and prone to bending and cracks. He also replaced the shocks with Koni's.
I replaced the MOMO wheels with the one's you see in the pics which are R8 replica wheels. I purchased the car from him in 2007 with approx. 66k on it. Just so that you know, Joe Hoppen was the guy that set up the high performance Audi rally cars for Audi in the early 80's. When he set up shop in 1993 in Florida he was the only guy in the USA who really knew the potential of these cars and could set them up properly. "

Welcome to the forum, suprmnjl!
That car is freakin' beautiful! If you ever decide to sell it, contact me first.
That said, that car is screaming for a suspension upgrade! It needs a good set of coilovers after all the money/work put into it. 2Bennet make a good system for the URS4; and, also have a custom program if you're financially inclined to continue in the tradition of this awesome automobile.
