Radio Code - Dealer Only?

Is radio code DEALER ONLY ($20, even if your a dealer?)
or is there another way to get it

Meaning your radio is in "SAFE" mode and you don't have the code?

Then, yes, you do have to go to a dealer with the VIN number and head unit serial number.

ONLY if the dealer puts the code there. Some do for convenience, some don't for security reasons. That's why my comment started with "you don't have the code?" It sounded to me that the original post suggested that the poster did not have the code.
