Ahhhh ... Time to drive it like I stole it !!
5 Attachment(s)
Hit the 1000 km mark on the odometer yesterday (2 weeks of ownership) and will now drive "normally" (versus avoiding stomping it 95% of the time). Unlike my GF's Miata, the TTS is extremely refined ... Quiet, luxurious, smooth (except on very rough pavement mostly due to 19" wheels).
If I were asked to compare this car to the RS4, I'd say I miss the sound of the V8 with Milltek exhaust and perhaps the ability to pass any car, anywhere with 100 feet of road space. The TTS is plenty powerful but the 2L just doesnt pull as hard at highway speeds. Funny thing is I seem to be getting lots of compliments on the TT which is on par with the RS: a week never went by without at least a thumbs up or comments from a stranger (including women !). I dont miss the frequent visits to the pump but expect that my changed driving style after 1000 kms on the TT will have an impact. The reduced space is not an issue as my GF and I went to the cottage for the weekend with 2 sets of golf clubs, clothes, food, 18L jug of water for the cooler and had room to spare ! For the record, I set the speed alarm at 130kph to ensure I didnt get over that without knowing it and seem to hear the alarm going off all the time. If more space is needed, my GF's DD is an A4 ... The TTs feels nimble and quick and I seem to finally have stopped phantom clutching on startup. Still getting used to the DSG and can honestly say I am enjoying the ability to calmly drive in traffic without a 3rd pedal as well as the access to virtually instant shifts when the time and open road allows. The mag ride in sport mode does a great job of tightening up the ride when pushing the car around corners or at speed. I'd draw a parallel to comparing OEM sport ommy B6 A4 to the affect of upgrading the sway bars to h-sports. Not day and night difference but definitely very noticeable when doing higher speed lane changes and cornering. Aside from a Dension Gateway 100 being installed day one, I have not done an mods to date although I've had a few goodies in hand longer than Ive had the car. More on that another day ... Congrats on your new car. I still think white makes both the mk1 & mk2 TT's look the best. Your car is gorgeous, love the wheels. Now chip it and your RS4 will be missed even less!

Re: Ahhhh ... Time to drive it like I stole it !!
yet another awesome car in front of that house. Funny.
I love the look of the TTS. Kudos. Get an APR chip...works very well...is very conservative and well thought out...and can be hidden from warranty checking Audi folks by putting it in stock mode. On sale for $600 right now for a full suite of stock, valet, 91, 93 modes. Can't beat that. Will get your torque well into the 300s. |
