what do you guys think?
So I just recently purchased a 2001 Audi TT Quattro from the states I love the Audi TT, was the car I wanted friends and family told me oh it's expensive and all that nonsense but I still wanted it. Now I'm wondering if I paid to much because every time I think about it I feel like I got screwed. So anyways importing it from the states I paid originally $13,380 for it but with the changes to the bumpers for Canadian standards and new wheels and import fees I'm sitting at $21,785 for a 2001 Audi TT Quattro with 96,000 kms.

Where did you get the bumpers done?

Re: what do you guys think?
I live in Calgary and we were getting ridiculous quotes for $6700 and we went with some guy from Toronto who quoted us $3100 and then my dad knows a certified Audi mechanic who charged us $700 to have them put in and painted so I paid 3,800 for the bumpers.

Re: what do you guys think?
Was there no way that you could get it locally (as in within country not neccesarily in your town) for a better price? If it wasn't available and that was the car that you really wanted-then no, you did not get ripped off, in my opinion.

This guy imported an audi a4 from the US and saved $12,000.

Re: what do you guys think?
you didn't get ripped off, your car was a pretty good price even with the bumper. i wouldn't include the price of the wheels to your overall cost of the car unless your TT never came with wheels. but i think you probably could have found another TT for around the same price in calgary without all the hassle. but hey, as a6cery said, as long as you like your car right?
did you check the riv before buying the TT to see what modifications needed to be done to import the vehicle over??

Re: what do you guys think?
No Probably something I should have done they hit me with the bumper thing when the TT was at the canadian border. But yah I searched locally in calgary and found nothing there really expensive here for some reason found 2 a 03 with 65k Kilometers Quattro for $33,000...... So I guess in the long run all that hassle was worth it.

Re: what do you guys think?
i personally dont think its worth importing a car from the states with the price is almost the same sure the price at first will look low but fee's taxes this and that it adds up if u know what i mean...
unless the car is rare its not worth it
