TT makes noises from right rear when parked
Hi guys,
I tried using the search button to solve this problem, but didn't have any luck. Hoping someone here can chime in with a solution.
My TT has developed a whirring/clicking noise from the right rear fender when the car is parked. The sounds are inconsistent, usually lasting only a few seconds, and recurring periodically. I understand the fuel pump is located in this area, so I am guessing that it is a likely culprit. The car isn't parked with the key in it, so the ignition is fully off.
I don't know how long this problem has existed with the car, but now that she is parked for longer periods (she is primarily my winter car) the battery ends up drained after sitting for a few weeks.
Since the fuel pump (or other electrical gremlin) is receiving power with the ignition fully off, I am guessing that there is a faulty relay or computer module?
Just another thought, my car has the Bose sound system, and I believe there is an amp located in the right rear fender. Could this be the cause of the problem? I will have to charge the car up again and try removing fuses. Unfortunately my garage is a bit full right now with engine work on a buddy's 911.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: TT makes noises from right rear when parked
Had the car parked for a few days with the stereo fuse pulled. Didn't hear the sounds from the right rear, but the battery is dead again. Going to run the battery over to PartSource to be checked. Any other thoughts?

Battery is shot, and so now with a new battery I can't get the car to replicate the squirrelly sound from the rear. Could it be as simple as a poor battery messing with the amp?

Re: TT makes noises from right rear when parked
The amp is under the front passenger seat i believe and the CD changer is in the drivers side rear. Could it be the changer making noise. Its been a long time since i had a TT all apart, but i don't see it would be the pump when the key is off as there is no power to it then. Maybe the changer is trying to load when the volts get low. Just things to look at, not trying to say that it is your problem...
