Default Need a new glove box for a 2001 TT

Hi Guys
I broke a small plastic piece inside the latch mechanism of the glove box on my 2001 1.8T TT Unfortunately, it looks like I have to replace the whole glove box to fix it. Does anyone know a good reasonably priced source where I can pick up a black glove box and door?
I have seen some on ebay out of the US, but the courier costs and customs fees tend to double the cost of the item.

Hello,

could you post a picture of what broke on your glovebox? I had to repair mine recently. It was the latch pins on the release handle that broke but it was repairable. Maybe there is an option for you too. Not for sure but if you post a picture there might be some ideas just in case you can't find one easily.

just a thought.

thanks,

My glovebox was also broken when i bought the car. came with 120000 km and was flawless except for this issue. Looked into a new one and it cost over $1000 for a whole new box!! I can live with my messed up one for now but it will need to be replaced at some point

I would look online for a used one. Kijiji usually always has them if you search all of canada as there are a number of parts cars on there. Other than that VW Vortex is also a good place to look as well.

The glove box latch on my TT kept releasing and it would fall open. I simply put in a small spacer to move the latch pin further into it hole is has been fine. cheap and easy.

Hi Wally

Where did you put the spacer? I have the same problem of the glove box dropping open when I hit a bump.

Could you post a photo or describe your solution in more detail?

Thanks so much!
Russ

Hi, I know you post is old but I have the same problem and think the spacer idea is brilliant. Can you explain exactly how you did it? Huge thanks.
