Default Need help with first TT

Hi, I just bought a 2005 tt s-line with 160k on it, and I'm wondering why the car vibrates around 1500rpm. Is this fatal? I really don't have cash lying around to use on my tt. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

Hi, do you get the vibration when the car is stationary and revving at 1500rpm or driving at 1500rpm?

Is the vibration felt through the steering wheel or brake pedal etc / ?

,Does the vibration disappear if you go below or above 1500rpm e.g. 1000rpm & 2000rpm

The vibration happens when I'm stationary or driving pretty slowly at 1500rpm. And yes, the vibration is felt through pretty much everything and its only at exactly 1500rpm.

Hi Matt, it sounds like you may have a broken or damaged engine / transmission mount as you get this when the vehicle isn't moving, I assume apart from that the vehicle performs as normal, if not it could be a coil pack breaking down causing the engine to badly misfire. Get a VCDS / VAG COM scan done, someone on this forum maybe able to do this for you for free, I would do it but I stay in Scotland UK, I hope this helps, even if it's only to eliminate this isn't the problem. As you will appreciate it difficult to give an exact diagnosis without actually inspecting the vehicle. Best of luck let me know how you get on

Rob

PS

If I can think of any else I will post it here

Okay, do you think I can still drive it, or should I let it sit till the issue gets resolved?

Thanks,
Matt

Hi matt, I would personally let the car sit until the problem is resolved the reason being you could potentially cause more damage and that's more $$$$ bucks to payout.

As regrades to a faulty coil pack/s. I contacted my local Audi dealer some time ago. The technician told me that coil packs I had will be replaced free of charge if the part number ends with 'H' or 'J'. Any car with 'L' 'M' R' or 'D' are left alone and not replaced. Audi UK has been advised that these coil packs with 'H' or 'J are faulty no matter how old your Audi is they are replaced free. What I dont know is if this applies to Canada. It's worth investigating further especially if it's free

Yes it applies to Canada.
I had my 8 coil packs replaced last year on my S4 even if the warranty was long gone and the car was imported from the US. Dealer was were cooperative on this.

About the engine mounts: you should be able to see if they are broken just by a visual inspection.

If you need a VAG-COM cable around Montreal, I can scan your car for you (free of charge of course)

That is good info, my car is also a u.s import and the owner I got it from said the car was totally stock exept for a pair of brakes, the rims and the winter tires.

Thanks for helping me out, I might bring the car to the closest audi dealer so they can fix/check it. I'll have to pass on your Scan offer though Beaven, I live south of Winnipeg...

While I'm at it I'd like to ask if anyone also has the problem with a row of "pixels" going randomly on or off in the digital display. Not blinking, but when I turn on the car sometimes the display is nearly perfect, other times there is a couple rows of "pixels" just not working. If this is an easy fix I'd do it, but if not i can live with it...

Otherwise, thanks for the help so far,
Matt

Hi the pixel thing is a common fault, and if you can put up with it, that's fine. I found this on ebay .CA for you

AUDI DASH BOARD PIXEL REPAIR | eBay

Hope this helps
