I have a 2005 TT 225 with the same problem. Have changed the coolant temp sensor, and they did a few other things, but the problem persists. Same as yours. No answers here.

One possibility is a small fuel leak. I experienced same and realized the connection at the filter was leaking. This caused fuel system to de-pressurize while parked and created hard cold starts. Tightened up the connection and all was well again.

Is it a hard start in the morning because it's cold, or because the car has been sitting for so many hours?

What do you mean by hard start? Would it crank for 3-5 seconds before it would fire? or any longer?

Do you find it that it would start at the seconde attempt right away?

Few possible reasons that are very common with the excellent german engineering: fuel pump, voltage of battery, mass air flow sensor, crank sensor, air leak. Go through elimination process and start from whatever costs less. Change the fuel filter first, then, look for any leaks, cracks in hoses. And so on. Good luck.

I have discovered that if I floor the gas pedal and leave it for maybe a second, then release it BEFORE I start the car, it will start right up first time.

Try this and let us know.

Audi dealership recently changed my coil packs. This seems to have solved the problem, although they said that it wouldn't.

Also had this problem, turned out coilpacks and injectors were bad, got replacements from 034 Motorsports and runs great minus a slight misfire randomly at idle when warm .. anyone have any ideas?

I have the same (very intermittent) problem. They could not reproduce it at the dealer. No error codes thrown.
