I want a TT
Hi Guys,
I'm thinking of replacing my Golf TDI with a 2001/2002 TT 225, 6spd Quattro. I have a few questions and need your assistance with decision making:
1.How reliable are these cars?
2.Is it ok to buy one with high mileage like over 100k kms?
3.I like the roadster more than the coupe, any issues with the rag top?
4.Anything else particular to these models that I should look for when shopping around?
5.What kind of fuel consumption does 225HP/6spd manual puts out? I know it can't be close to my TDI but as long as its similar to the A4 Avant I'm cool. I do 80% highway, 401 north york to mississauga.
Thanks,
Atif

Re: I want a TT
I have an 04 TT 225, 6spd quattro roadster which I've only had since October but keep it garaged for the winter......for the amount of time I've had it on the road, it's been great. I couldn't tell you about too many particulars re fuel consumption, mileage etc.... but if you are importing it, you will have to replace the front and back bumpers and impact beams (aprox $3,600 parts) to meet Cdn motor vehicle standards.

Re: I want a TT
I thought about importing one from the US but with all the hassle of changing bumpers and going to crappy tire, paperwork for the govt etc, the $ amount comes to almost the same as what you'd pay here for a canadian car. So I'm shopping around here first, I have family member who's a dealer CarLounge.ca and does euro high end cars only and regularly goes to Audi/BMW/Merc auctions so I can get one for auction price i.e. wholesale. If I'm unable to find anything local in the next couple of auctions than I'll look at bringing one from south of the border.
