Default Hood latch problem

Hi everyone,

I went to my dealer with my old 01 TT 225 and they wrote on the inspection sheet that the hood latch needed to be replaced. Since I do most of the trivial work on my car myself, I told them "thank you, but that I'll fix myself".

So i purchased the part (about $75) and replaced it. But.... i act exactly the same as before !!! I was told that the hood on the image of the car would show when it's opened (like when you leave a door ajar) but it doesn't.

I tried everything. If I open the hood and try to lock the car, it won't beep. And as soon as i close the hood the alarm engages (beep). So the car knows when the hood is opened or closed (as it did before i replace the latch also).

I am starting to wonder, does the instrument cluster shows something when the hood is opened ? Ever since I've had this car, i never noticed so i am starting to wonder if there is such an indicator.

If you leave a door open, it does show a little door on the car image.
If you leave the trunk open, it does show a section where the trunk is on the car image.
Will the hood show something ?

Please tell me i didn't replaced a $75 part for nothing.

Marc
