Front Bumper

Front Bumper
As all us Canadians know, we have those ugly tumors on the front of our cars.
I'm planning on removing my front one. Would there be any legal issues in removing
it? (ie could a cop pull me over and ticket me)
Thanks,
Paul.

Thanks for the response.Where did you get your front bumper?
I was thinking of removing it and filling in all those holes, but I think that's a bad idea.
I'm planning on buying a new one - would the local Audi shop be able to order one or
would I have to order from the US?
Thanks,
Paul.

bumper swap anybody??
Hi guys,
I'm seriously looking into importing a US 2001 TT 226 hp into Canada, but, I'm being quoted $3500 for 2 new Cdn. bumpers including painting and install. Sounds a bit crazy to me.
Anybody here interested in a bumper swap?
I need Cdn bumpers to pass federal inspection.
I will have 2 US bumpers all original and smooth to trade.
I'm located in Calgary, but, might be interested in some travel if it wasn't rediculously far.
I am willing to cover more than just the bumper for bumper swap; ie: part of your painting and install costs.
At the same time, I'll also mention I'm being quoted $400 to rewire the car for daytime running lights. Local Audi dealer here in Calgary says the TT does not have a DRL module to buy and plug in. Is this true and are there any alternatives to this expensive rewiring job?

$3500? Crazy! I have already removed the parts; otherwise, I wouldn't mind trading them with you. Try posting this in vwdov.ca. There are a few TTers there might be willing to do it. If still no luck, then IM me and see what we can do.

RIV is right on board too. They told me they would not pass the car unless I submitted invoices, from a recognized Audi dealer, with the correct part numbers, showing I purchased all NEW parts and then had them installed and painted. If I installed used parts they refused to certify it.
I asked how other TT owners up here with US TT's with their US bumpers still on the car managed to do it and was bluntly told, "they are completely illegal and if we or any law authority ever finds out, sumbuddy is gonna be in a big heap 'o trubble!" Or words to that effect.
I just said, "OK, this is just garbage, but, there has to be better wastes of my time than fighting with these idiots". So I gave up on the TT idea and am looking at '02 - 03' A6 2.7's (4.2's aren't legal to import, nor are RS6's) or perhaps a Volvo S80 T6.
I'm just trying to find cheap flights to Illinois or Michigan from Calgary right now.
