Default Airbag Light

Hey y'all,

While switching out my winter mats (don't ask why I had a set in the back), I must have hit the airbag sensor under the driver's or passenger's seat because the airbag light is on. I went in for the APR ecu upgrade today and was told that they couldn't cancel the airbag light with their vagcom.

I got a printout of the report:

Control Module Part Number: 8N8 909 601
Component and/or Version: Airbag Front+Seite 1008
Software Coding: 10103
Work Shop Code: WSC 01236

Fault Found:

65535 - Internal Control Module Error
00-10 - - - Intermittent

I did some searches around the various forums and the internet and I'm thinking of buying the part and having the dealership install it. Their initial quote was 1k with parts and labour, that's way too much but I need this light off before I can pass the provincial inspection.

Any ideas?

Suggest contact a member on this forum: ECMBuster

He may be able to help and would be less expensive than a new Airbag Control Module.

I had the same problem and I just gave in and went with the dealer because the installation can be a bit tricky. Had it done 2 days ago. The part is worth around $800 CDN, plus labour, and it went up to $1180.

Hey George,

My apologies for not posting up my resolution to the problem eariler. I removed the airbag module at home (takes some time as space is limited and you should have the battery disconnected just in case). Then I sent it over to a local guy who re-flashed it and got rid of the reason for the fault.

ECM buster is definitely the guy you would want to talk to. Anyway, in total it cost me under under 50 bucks all in plus a couple hours of my time. Hopefully it stays off now.

My airbag light just came on and won't go off, while on vacation. I suspect the airbags themselves are fine so it must be something wrong with the sensor.

I am also in Vancouver - who did you get to fix the airbag module? and is it still working?

I have never seen the module - is it under the passenger or drivers seat? I have a 2004 SLine ragtop - two seater.
