Hi Andre,
The HPA Performance controller is designed for your application. I bought it primarily because it was cheaper than an OEM replacement and I couldn't find any used ones. Well, I also liked the idea of improved AWD rather than the reactive AWD, so I didn't look too hard for used ones

There is no noticeable change when the Haldex engages, other than being able to "feel" the rear wheels actively involved in pushing the car during acceleration, which is what I'm used to from my past AWD cars. It probably engages during hard braking, but I haven't noticed anything because the big brakes on the S-Line are already fantastic. It is quite transparent and there is no noise, lag or jerking. I wish there was a way to monitor it with VAG-Com or VADmobile so I could see when it is engaging. I do know it is working, because I don't spin the wheels anymore on hard acceleration on loose gravel, or lay rubber on a launch. For me, the big test will be when the snow comes. However I don't have much to compare with because there wasn't much snow last winter after I got the car. I will be able to compare with my old Eagle Talon TSi (with LSD all around, including centre diff) because I was able to push it past its limits occasionally in the snow. I think the big benefit from the HPA controller is in pushing the limits on curves (in and out), like you would do on the track.

I just put EBC RedStuff ceramic brakes on last week, so that is the next thing for me to test out once they bed in. I'm hoping to eliminate the characteristic front brake dust problem that plagues just about every nice German car on the road. So far, they are making more dust, but that is hopefully just the bed-in surface wearing off.

Have fun with your new controller, and report back your results! HPA were great to deal with.

Mike

Hi Mike,

Thank you very much for your fast answer!

Since I drive a 3.2 Big Turbo upgrade, I get a lot of wheel spin. I will order it tonight and as soon as I get to test drive it, I'll share my impressions on my blog. (HPA’s Haldex Performance Controller | Audi TT RS Project (3.2 V6 MK1 -8N- Turbo))

And winter is just around the corner, so I'll try my winter garage queen and get a good idea of what the Haldex controller will do. It gives me an idea: I will make a video of a full throttle start with and without the Haldex, just to see the difference. Maybe slowmotion will show the rear wheel spin? Hopefully yes...

Let me know how you find your brakes, as I also have to change them for something better.

Ciao for now!

Andre

Sweet ride, Andre! Do you have the DSG or 6M tranny? The DSGs need to be modded too if you turbo the V6, so they can handle the extra torque. HPA has a re-map for the DSG now too.

Well, it depends!
Apparently, the stock DSG can take up to 400 whp if re-mapped.
I'm at 360 whp, so no need for more mechanical mods.

Funny thing is I contacted HPA yesterday for more info on their mechanical DSG mods. Just curious to get more info.

Cheers,

Andre

Hi cheeba.

I just started to write about the car, at my blog: Audi TT RS Project (3.2 V6 MK1 -8N- Turbo) | Follow my Audi TT RS Project – From a 8N 3.2 to a monster called the TT RS

Let me know your thoughts!
