Default Which way would you go?

Hi everyone,
New to the forum, first post!!

I've been admiring TT's for years now, and have finally arrived at the point where I'm seriously considering one as my next vehicle. It's gonna be a used one (typically "my" vehicle is the families "second" car, typically used).

Unless we can stumble on a pot of gold, my target purchase price/budget is in the mid teens. Browsing around on auto trader, that seems to put me in the 2000-2003 (maybe?) range, usually a car with close to or over 100K km's on it.

I know there are dozens of variables, but which way would you go? An older one with less mileage on it, or a newer one with more? Is this even an "answerable" question?

Thanks in advance,
Rod

The canadian bumper standards just changed so this would put you in the 2003-2004 range-ish have you considered importing from US??

ya....it would likely see winter roads, so the AWD certainly is desirable from that angle. ...and ya know, the roadsters just don't do it for me..... The coupe's lines are just enthralling.

Importing from the US: having only discovered that there is/was a bumper issue from recently finding this forum, and if that problem has now been taken off the table, seems like importing into Canada has gotten less painful. (not to mention that being able to replace current 2002 vehicle with one a couple of years newer would help in the "getting final bank approval" area...)

the first complicating factor to that is then having to sell my current vehicle privately (anyone wanna buy a loaded 2002 Chev S10 crew cab 4x4?) Trading it in cross border would be a PITA.

so much to think about.....glad I don't have confirmed "bank" approval yet lol.....

thanks for the thoughts!!!

Is there any particular model year to stay away from for any reason?

ya the coupe's lines is what sold me on it, but the first summer i had it....i was kicking myself!!! ive seen 2003 4x4 in a drop top with the 225hp 6spd for 14000.00 with 60000/m in texas.

also you cant trade your car into a U.S. dealer

how much are you looking for your s10, how many km, color, motor, carfax?? and any rust yet

i will be selling my car next summer....looking for the Audi TT-rs 2009/2010 in a drop top!!

the S10 has just over 150,000 km's on it, it's white w/ gray leather, and has the 4.3 V6. There's rust on the gas cap flipdoor, and a little streaking rust on the cab below the rear window. Oh ya, a couple of spots where the paint is gone on the lower rear rocker panels. Ya know (as I describe it) one of the hurdles I (we) need to get over in this whole process is that it's just a great and perfect winter buggy for all we do, I could easily be convinced to keep it. Maybe the better half will start getting sick of her Saab and we'll trade that in for a TT........
I still need to do lots of thinking. sigh.

I know...as I drove an '01 5-spd around a bit last week, I was totally in love.

the way it drove and handled (even for a 7 year old car), the simple minimilistic dash, ....
