Question Should there be a difference??

I have a 2001 Audi TT quattro. I just installed a set of Eibach springs. The plate on top of the strut mount has a space between it and the mount. Should there be that space? I'm pretty sure the plate was sitting on the strut mount before. Should there be a difference now that I've got the new springs in there?

Yes, there should be a space there with aftermarket springs/dampers. As long as you installed the suspension correctly and used the proper torque values, you'll be good.

By the way, assuming you used lowering springs, you should be using aftermarket dampers meant for lowered vehicles - your OEM dampers probably won't last too long, and will not provide optimal ride/performance.
