Electrical & Instrument issues, wiring? HELP!

2 Attachment(s)
2001 TT Convertible, stereo, gas gauge, now signal lights don't work. Fuses all ok, but found 2 wires (one red, one orange) have come off terminals. Looks to be result of previous bad fix (horrible taping, wear on torx screws). I'm going to get a short torx driver to remove the inner fb cover, but need to know what these two wires do, and if I'll be able to reconnect simply by removing inner panel.

Have heard of Instrument Cluster issues, want to know if I'm headed down the path of replacement or this quick fix might be the ticket, hopefully BEFORE lining the dealership's pockets with a bunch of dough for a diagnosis.

Cheers,

Ryan

Based on the age of your post, you have likely fixed your problems by now, but here are my thoughts if you are still working at it...

Those wires are for something that was added aftermarket with fuse holders like that, did you tape the wire ends or is that how you found them? Definitely not an Audi thing. Remove your lower dash panel and see where they go, I'd expect an alarm or stereo or something like that.

Your problems are likely not related. The gas gauge is likely either the sender in the tank or the gauge cluster. Is it dead or just inaccurate?

Signal lights, I assume you mean the turn signals? Probably the flasher unit, ask google where it is and how to replace. Likely just unplug a module and replace.

Stereo, is it stock or aftermarket? Did it just stop working or has it never worked since you got the car?

When my instrument cluster failed, all the gauges and instrument panel lighting and stereo lighting did not work. Everything else worked properly and the car ran fine though.
