The top is up correctly but the light stays on in the dash. What should I look for?

This is what I did. With the top part way down, you will see the "hook" latch that engages when down. I put some black duct tape ( you have to love this stuff) on the very end to make it bigger. I know, I know but I wanted to confirm what it was. This solved the problem, now I need to come up with a permanent fix.

small micro switch on drivers side was not moving enough to shut off dash light. I put a couple of layers of tape and boom fixed

 

Now if only we can come up with less of a "Red Green" aproach to fixing it
