Audi TT 225 Limp mode from INTAKE

Hey everyone,

Im pretty new to the Audi TT scene. I recently picked up a 2002 Audi TT 225 with 143,000 km and all dealer maintenance records. I live in Toronto Canada, and have to say I love to car. I recently re-mapped it, and the car has been running fantastically. I swapped out the stock DV for a Forge 008.

Now I recently did something hastily and anticipate I may have messed something up.

I thought it would be a good idea to fabricate my own air intake to get a louder woosh noise, and maybe some better feel. So I put on an old air intake from my previous s2000. I cut the pipe to make it fit and attached it after the MAF. I drove it for 30 mins on the hwy, sounded nice. Didnt notice any difference in performance really since I closed off the intake from the engine. I gave her in 4th gear, I felt a bit of hesitation, and then suddenly experience a BOG and a sudden loss of power. Then it felt like low turbo boost the whole way home. It drove nicely but with low boost. I think this may have been limp mode. I took the intake off to find out the intake was very clogged and dirty from the s2000 days. Im guessing my MAF detected not enough air and opted to limp it out.

I scanned the car to get the following codes.

3 Faults Found:

18010 - Power Supply Terminal 30
P1602 - 35-10 - Voltage too Low - Intermittent
17965 - Charge Pressure Control
P1557 - 35-00 - Positive Deviation
17705 - Pressure Drop between Turbo and Throttle Valve (check D.V.!)
P1297 - 35-00 -

I put my stock intake back on, checked the lines, and DV, cleared the codes, and ran fine for 5 minutes, then went back into limp mode again. No engine light. I am confused! did I destroy something from my clogged intake filter? Or is something just loose?

Help would be very much appreciated!!

Tyler

Hey
Just saw someone mention a Similar problem, on another forum, with K&N filters, he figures the filter oil damages the MAF sensor.
Hope thats helps
