2005 Audi TT Roadster S-line

Hi guys,

I am looking at buying an 05 TT Roadster with the 3.2 and DSG transmission.

Can anyone tell me if there are any issues with the 3.2 and with the DSG tranny etc.

Do the dual clutches wear out? Is the engine an interference engine and are

there still timing belt issues on the 3.2?

Anything else I should be concerned with on these cars?

Also, was there a "TT- S" model in 05 and what did the S-line package include?

I guess I should mention that I line in the K-W area but the car is a US car.

Does anyone have any tips for importing a car from the US?

Thanks for the help!

I can't speak about the roadster from personal experience. However, the 2005 3.2 coupe I can.
Having imported two into Canada now. A 05 and 04. It's easy provided you have all your paper work in order, get the recall letter and contact them 72 hours prior. No longer need to swap out the bumper for a Canadian OEM to meet inspection.

No timing belt in the 3.2. Not so much specific to the DSG. The Audi TT or rather any VAG car for that matter. In general is more involved. So like anything that's involved there is more opportunity for things to go wrong. Everything is electronic, meters or sensors. Nearly everything on the car is reliant upon being 'read' via VAG. The frustration comes when fault codes don't register, not obvious or hard to recreate. Making the problem hard to diagnosis. Often trial and error is the only solution. This can be an expensive process. As is service and repair in general.

The most common complaint often associated with the DSG. That's not to say necessarily it's the DSG itself, albeit related indirectly. Would be the loss of power, hesitation, clunk, delay, lurch, shudder when accelerating, switching gears. (many different term used to describe this).
I think this is VW and Audi in general.

The cluster and coil pack have been recalled for the TT around 2005. I'm not sure of the specifics, easily looked up online. Which needs doing before importing into Canada. The TTS from my understanding is 2008 and up

Anything else you need to know, is easily found on line with a little research!
