I have a '00 Audi TT 1.8 that is experiencing problems. Right after Ihanged battery..now interior lights will not turn on when vehicle is on (they do turn on when the car is off tho) alarm no longer arms (no audible noise) ..some other things i noticed..i no longer get a chime or visual display on dash when door is open..although i kno the sensors work..b/c when car is off and i open and close doors interior light fade and dim accordingly. As for the central locking unit problems.. the red light in the center of the lock and unlock buttons stays lit when i close the door at all times..however will not let me actually lock the doors when i hit the button. Any Sugestions?

 

Start by checking all the fuses and relays, and your battery connections and grounds (a loose battery connection can sometimes cause very odd problems). Failing that, I'd get a VAG-COM scan of the car done, then look to the ECU or comfort control module.
