Re: Key Programming

as i mentioned before there is a guy that did it for me in Oakvile, he is not a dealer therefore the statement "dealers only to reprogram" is not right. You need a special scanner for this and it costs a pretty penny, but anyone could buy it.

Re: Key Programming

I have an 01.5 B5 A4 and also only have one key (my fob broke and I only had the keyblade, which I just switched in to a replacement eBay-supplied remote.)

I don't think my car has IMMO as I'm able to start and drive the car w/o issue. Has anyone else had experience programming a new fob with just one key?

I'm wondering if the procedure below will work for me or not.

Thanks for the tip ... although it did not work outright because we only have one key, with a bit of experimenting we managed to reprogram that single key (the car we have is a 2003 A4 1.8 Convertible):

- Put the key you want to program on the ignition and turn it one step
- Press and hold the UNLOCK button on the key
- At the same time press and hold the UNLOCK button on door - hold them both for a short while
- We also repeated the same with teh LOCK button, but not sure if it was required

Now all 3 functions: LOCK, UNLOCK, BOOT (TRUNK), work fine

Not sure if the above process is exactly as described because I was experimenting with several things but the general idea is there.

By the way, in our case the control stopped functioning when the key case opened slightly while trying to fit a key ring - obviously that disconnected the battery.
