When I bought my 2001 TT it only came with 1 remote. I bought a new one from a local Audi dealer and the programming instructions he gave me didn't work. I did some searching and found this procedure and it works good. How do I reprogram the remote control? — Audi TT Car Club - www.audittcca.com

I did screw up a little though. I used my remote I got with the car as the key I put in the ignition. When I went to program my new remote, by pressing the button ONCE, the new one worked fine but the one I put in the ignition no longer worked. So I had to reprogram it also by pressing the button TWICE.

Finally got my keys coded to my immo! Local guy with the equipment sorted it out with me. I finally have three sets running. That took ages for me to research and only took him about 10 minutes. I already my keys cut and doors programmed. I just needed the immo working.

He can cut and code keys for most of our cars. He was saying that some can be problematic but it worked for my '04 AR. He's in the GTA so you need to be able to meet him in person so he can retrieve and generate your pin code. Good riddance stealerships!

10 pages and still confused.

The first post calls for more than one key to program the remote. Along the way, a process is described where all you do is push the remote unlock button while turning on the ignition -- only one key required. Then if you have two remotes, programming one remote this way disables the other. Then there is the suggestion that both remotes can be programmed with one key but on the second remote, the button is pressed twice.

So what is the definitive way of programming more than one remote (say three)
with only one key?

I am a bit confused by this, to my knowledge you cant just have a remote without a key. They all come with a key, remote, and immobilizer. If you have multiple keys follow the original procedure. If not then follow the one where the remote key is in the ignition and you hold the unlock button.

Notice how for all programing you need to have the regular key there is no remote only.

Say I have 1 key/remote combination that works. I then acquire two more but don't cut the keys, so the key part is useless. I want to program those other two remotes. How do I do it?

Simply put, you cant! There is a way and i know ECMBuster knows, but other then having some knowledge of the programing and having software and the tools it is pretty much impossible. You have to program the immobilizer as well.
