Default DIY Fuel injector cleaner and system build-up cleaner AKA Seafoam

Hey guys, well its probably about time if you havent done this this year, or havent done it at all. This will improve your gas milage and response times, better ideling and all the good stuff. I am talking about seafoam!!! Not very many people know about it but it basically cleans your system and makes your neighbours angry! You can find it at Auto Value for about $13 per can and do this simple excersise and extend the life of your engine and its performance. Seafoam cleans the combustion chamber, exhaust, and catalytic converters and injectors. You suck it through your brake boaster vac hose into the intake. It must be done slowly so you dont hydro lock your engine. After its in you turn the engine off let it set for 15 mins, during this time it turns all the carbon build up to liquid. When you turn the car back on it burns it all out with a massive cloud of white smoke. This clears up in about 10 mins or running or driving, it is supposed to bring your engine back to like-new condition. I just did this to my car today and the response time is way better as is the idle. It is A LOT quiter and smoother I recommend this for anyone that has over 50k km's( Anything less will not notice much difference but it is beneficial to get rid of the stuff and you dont get any build up, the only downside is not seeing much of a difference). It is very beneficial and it takes about 10-20 minutes. It will not hurt your engine as long as you dont flood it which will cause it to hydro lock, and then it is dificult to start up the car without killing the battery. Use the recomended amount and do it twice if you like.

The first time I did it not very much smoke came out but the second time I stalled the engine and had to wait for about 15 minutes to try and restart it. once I got it going the smoke was overwhelimg and the performance/difference after was AWESOME!!! The idle was 10X better and the car ran like new.

I really want to seafoam my S4, but i'm too nervous that i'm gonna blow chunks out my exhaust and blow a turbo. I already blew a turbo and i know my exhaust and intake manifold have crap in them

You are supposed to use the last 1/3 to stall the engine. The excess fluid in the cylinders soak into the carbon buildup. After 15 minutes soak time, its hard starting but be prepared for a smoke show. More smoke, the better it worked!

Not a bad idea to do an oil change after.

Interesting post. My A6 is coming up to 190K, and it's never been done. It still idles and runs pretty smooth, but I'm sure it would benefit from this.

Is the brake booster vac hose easy to find?
