Traffic updates now avail on Sirius Canada?
 

I noticed for the first time this morning that I was getting traffic updates on my NAV system. I first noticed a notice about upcoming construction several KM's down the road and it was listed as one of the points on my route. Secondly I noticed TMC had appeared on the right side of the NAV screen. And the info button showed a list of traffic issues and closures, etc. I did not however see any traffic flow colours on the map.

I drove from Montreal to Toronto today, so I can confirm it worked in both cities.

I did not see any of this before this morning, so I can only assume it just became active. I am still in the first month of my trial subscription and have not had any contact with Sirius Canada or Sirius US.

Anyone else noticing this also?

Ended up seeing all of the colourful traffic flow information on the Gardiner today, and warnings of slow traffic and stop and go traffic ahead on my route.

Nope, I don't see the traffic updates on my map. :( I'm hooked up to Sirius Canada, are you with Sirius Canada or Sirius US for your subscription?

I'm still on a 3 month trial, no active account with either yet. Just noticed the traffic info pop up the other day. Limited to the Gardiner and the 401.

Thanks. Just reading up on Sirius traffic.... it's available with Sirius US. I'm gonna call the Sirius Canada next week and see if it's available here. If it's not, I'm cancelling my subscription in Canada, and subscribing with Sirius US. Pay in USD, but knowing the traffic in Toronto is worth it!

I didn't really notice it until I started getting warnings, but then realized I saw TMC on the side and pressing the info button shows a list of traffic issues.

Let me know how you make out, I want to keepnthe traffic service after my trial is done, and will activate in the US if I need to.

Sirius service sucks!!! Terrible on both sides (Canada and US). "We are 2 different companies and are both independent". What a bunch of clowns! Different operations but part of the same parent company (why else would their websites refer to the one another)? Both sides ping pong me to the other. Canada definitely doesn't offer traffic at this time. US won't talk to me because I'm in Canada and I need to contact Sirius Canada. Solution.... I may give my ESN number to a friend to sign me up for "Sirius Traffic" only ($4/mth). It should work. Can you tell me how accurate the traffic info is?

I'm on Sirius on a USA account.. never noticed mine change as my commute from 6:30 and im home by 3:30 so traffic is all good at those times. ill keep in mind next time i head to T.O and see. that's for the heads up. might also be a newer map/software in the 2012? either way cool to know!

On my way to Grand Bend this past long weekend, I noticed TMC light up on my NAV. When I pressed the INFO button on the MMI console, it showed details of construction on my route. I was quite surprised to see it as I've never noticed it before.

Not quite sure why it’s started to show now as I haven't had a Sirus subscription for almost a year. I didn't sign up after my 3 month subscription ran out.

It seems accurate, i.e.. when it shows a traffic blockage it is exactly where it appears on the map. But it also seems limited to a small section of the 401 and the QEW/Gardiner.

raj999 that is interesting that you are getting it with no subscription or trial at all.

My traffic data seems to be gone now. No more TMC for the last few days. I called Sirius Canada to ask if they were offering the traffic as a service yet, and was told it was something only the dealers could activate. Huh??

I asked if there was some kind of trial, and was told no. Although he didn't sound like he had the first clue about what he was talking about.

Oh well, no more traffic for now. Will try and activate both radio and traffic with Sirius/XM when my trial is up.

I've been in dealer demo mode since getting the car in April. Radio stopped working in Aug, and made a mental note to call and activate the 3 month trial. Driving from Moncton, NB to Toronto, started working again with traffic on Sept 3. On Sept 13th, I lost radio and traffic again, and it hasn't come back.

I noticed it accurately predicted construction, but also regular slow downs in flow as well, at least on the Gardiner. Will call to activate the 3 month trial sometime this week and see if traffic comes back.

Anyone else have/not have traffic?

I think that is about the same time I lost my traffic. I want it back! So annoying that Sirius Canada can't provide it and knows nothing about it.

My traffic came back today. Got a message that my Sirius subscription was being updated which lasted a few minutes, and when I checked my Nav, TMC was listed once again.

I am still my original demo until the end of November and still haven't purchased any service from Sirius Canada or US.

Anyone else seeing traffic service again?

I saw the TMC with a stroke through it today. I haven't subscribed since my demo ended, but it seems to corroborate your experience.

I received a mailer a few weeks ago offering a year sub for $75, but it ended before I got the mailer. I'm going to try calling to see if I can still get the offer, and then see if the clueless agents know anything about a traffic sub. Will update with results.

I want to call Sirius and ask, but I really do not look forward to speaking to their phone agents.

Traffic is working great again. Don't even have a sub. Most channels are working for me again so I'm assuming there's a free preview going on again.

My limited experience is it's showing very accurate traffic detail on the Gardiner, Lakeshore, and 401, down to average speed! Liking this...
