Tips? Touch up Paint Pen

Hey guys,

I have a few small rock chips / small scratches, and just picked a touch up paint pen from the dealership (Dolphin Grey).

Any tips on how I should apply? Suggestions for best results?

I always drove older beat up cars and never really fixed chips before, b/c I never cared too on those cars.

but I thought for the audi...i'd show it some love:)

Personally I wouldn't do it, its never as shiny as ur real paint job is.. It really depends on how picky you are.. I have heard some people who go to Audi collision center with nicks and scratches , and have there car touched up with a pro who uses real paint and a small touch up brush, not touch up paint.. If rather use the touch up pen make sure both touch up paint and clear coat pens are shaken up well..Try to make a thin layer over the nick or scratch then wipe the extra paint with a thin paper card.. Let touch up paint dry and then do clear coat ,repeat process.

Clean the chip with acetone first. Wipe.
Take some can and press the pen on it so the tip goes inside. Now you have an idea how much paint comes out.
Apply paint. Wait untill dry - go for coffee and forget it!
Come back and apply the second layer - go for donuts and forget it
Come back and apply the third layer. When dry apply clear coat.

It will look quite fine if next day you use Scratch Doctor from Ukrainian Tire on it.
After a month you will have to know that it was there to see it.

My detailer recommended touching up after washing but also cleaning the nick with rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip first.

Rubbing alcohol is fine as long as there is no cream in it.
Ask the pharmacist either it is pure alcohol or 70 % alcohol. In case you take it from the shelf it is 30% water. Rubbing alcohol has five carbon atoms in a chain and it takes longer to completely evaporate.
