Questions about Long Term Care and Maintenance of my Audi

Hello,

Last October I bought my first car – a black 2003 Audi A4 3.0L convertible – and I absolutely love it.

Now it could be man's love affair with his first car (who wouldn't love this car if it was their first car?!), however I would really like to take care of tis car so it lasts a long time and continues to look GREAT!

Being a used car there is some wear and tear on it that I would like to repair in the future – a broken cup-holder, some minor scratches to the paint, minor damage to the interior finishing, etc.

I will admit that I don't know anything about working on vehicles so I wouldn't even know where to start in doing these things myself, but whenever I have expressed a desire to even keep my Audi in the best shape I can for as long as I can, I have received mostly negative responses about maintaining such a car in the long term, especially an Audi.

Responses that I have received have said something similar to…

At some point all the electronics stuff will start getting flaky and it will be more expensive to fix than to replace the car.

An Audi. No way.

There's a reason a lot of audis this age are $2000 on craigslist.
Is it unrealistic for a regular-ish individual like myself to keep my Audi in great shape in the years to come? What can I do to keep my car looking great and in good running condition?
