The '09 Avant/Sedan are larger than previous years. I've had no problem with my (tall) 3 year old in the rear of my '09 Avant. I'm 6'3" and my wife is 5'8" so the seats are back a fair amount. Coming from a Volvo XC70 I did notice a significant loss in trunk/hatch space which may be a concern for the first couple years of a baby's life. Baby's come with a ton of gear but it drops off pretty quick and by the time they're about 2 it's not an issue anymore. The A6 would help here.

There is a video (link below) with someone showing a baby seat installed in the A4 wagon but (as someone else has mentioned) the brand/style of seat used really makes a difference.

My only problem is that I want to keep my car pristine, so I've enforced a strict no food policy and only Daddy tested/approved drink containers. I've also put a protector behind the passenger seat (for kicking) and under the baby seat. :)

Good Luck.

Britax Marathon fit perfect in the middle rear facing. With the seats design narrowing at the top, I never had to move my or my wife's seat forward. Now he's almost 3 and I actually have him behind me forward facing without much issue (occasionally he'll kick the rear seat, but that's only if he thinks of it ;)) I'm 6' tall - and with the seat in the "correct driving position", it really is fine.

Hahaha, good luck with that! :D

Seat protector is a must, but when the kid is screaming his head off because he's hungry, it's not always convenient to pull over ;)

Container of wetnap/Lysol/Armorall is a permanent fixer in the cars rear net hold now :p

Cheers
