I bought a A6 from someone about 2 years ago as is I didn’t know what was wrong with it at the time cause it drove fine. I took it in for a oil change was told it had a huge oil leak. At that point I already owned the car and the dealer wouldn’t answer the phone at all. I never got my title or plates from him. The car drove fine for about a year I kept up on oil changes and kept oil in at good levels. The car has been sitting for about a year now without driving I started having problems with it when the car would get warmed up in between hot and cold once I turned the car off it wouldnt turn back on til it was back on cold i didn’t really know why maybe a sensor? But one day I went to start it and drive down the block I heard a pop under the hood i stopped opened the hood and my coolant was low out of nowhere I turned around parked and added coolant into the tank and noticed it was chugging like crazy I looked under my car and my coolant was coming out the passenger side of the car I turned the car off and haven’t drove it since. Car sat for awhile It won’t turn over at the moment I tried having it taken to a shop I felt like I could trust I was told I would need a new starter to have a full diagnostics ran on the car and was quoted at $800 for that without a diagnostic the mechanic also told me he didn’t want to work on my car cause it may have other problems after the starter that would require a new rebuild that would cost me more than the car so he didn’t know what I’d want to do considering its a $4k car I’m under 140,000 miles and kinda wanted to keep the car but he wouldn’t work on it for me he instead tried offering me $300 for it i had new tires put on right before it stopped driving that costed me $900 alone that are new still and turned down his offer. I was wondering if anyone may have a insight as what could be wrong with it based off what I said and how much it would cost in estimate for repairs ? If its worth repairing? I kinda wanted to have it upgraded.
