Can I replace 1 tire on a Quattro?
Hi Guys,
Woke up this morning to a 90% flat tire. I managed to limp over to the gas station and when I started to put air in it, the guage said I only had 5psi in the tire. I filled it up (of course). I must have a leak, because I just checked and filled my tires last weekend.
So here's my question. If the tire can't be patched and I need to replace it, can I just replace the one tire. I've heard that on a quattro you must replace both rears (or fronts) to avoid buggering up the diff's. I'm not sure if that's true or just a quattro urban legend.
Help me out guys! Thanks!

How much mileage on the tire? If only a few k, I'd say you're fine. If more than 5k-10k or so, you'll have to replace all 4. Not only 2. Check the spec in the audi manual, usually it's a diamete difference of less than a few 1/32 of an inch.
It's at the shop right now. Hopefully I'll get some good news. Hey, can I mount a new tire on my business partners BMW 540i, turn off the traction control and just paint the road with it until I wear it down to the same level as the other tires. LOL
You can buy them and some places will shave them off a bit for you. Could be worth it.
