Audi Canada - Class Action suit - Please contact me.

Hello Everyone,

If you have an Audi or VW with the infamous 2.0 TFSI, or more specifically the CAEB engine and you are using oil, no specific amount just using oil, please contact me. I am in talks with a law office in Ottawa willing to open a Canada wide class action case against Audi Canada for Oil burning or consumption.

Audi of America has recently settled in a class action suit with our southern neighbours (USA) to the tune of over 23 million dollars. Even covering the cost of previous engine work done to Audi engines at Audi dealerships.

The issue, as many of you know, lies in the piston rings being incorrect from the factory. Audi has known this since 2008. It is a world wide problem
There is a new design for piston rings, pistons, and connecting rods for the CAEB engine.

If you have a CAEB 2.0 engine burning oil , 1 liter per 1000kms - give or take.
If you paid out of pocket for the oil consumption test part 1 or 2 you could also be reimbursed. Please contact me through audi forum.ca, if you want more info.

I have many links as well as the legal documents for the case that closed this past October 2014.

I am helping the law office build a plaintiff list. This is a class action suit with hundred or potentially thousands of plaintiffs, there will be no upfront cost to anyone, just information sent to the law office, not to me.
To fins out if your engine is the CAEB you can call your local dealer with your VIN#.

I will happily pass you the information of the law office, or vice versa, I am happy to act as a middle man.
Many of us have been living with this problem for far too long. We paid a premium for the Audi name and its heritage and its far time Audi correct this issue.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

I just bought a low mileage 2009 Audi A4 at the end of July 2015 and in just 2 months I had to add a quart of oil twice. I am very much interested in being added to the plaintiff list for a Canadian class action. My email is jabrodeur@hotmail.ca.

hello there, l am very interested in your issues.lawsuit against audi..l have just taken audi.ca to court in small claims, huntsville ont. surprise surprise, audi did not show and judge therefore allowed me compensation for my troubles and then ordered case to be re scheduled ..he also said that if they did not show again the case would be struck and presumably he would order audi to pay out my claim

hello ,
First let me just say how much I feel for all of us here - the pain of owning such an ... expensive car, yet always on the back of ( my mind anyway ) when the light will go off actually right now .. the oil level is not even showning up!
My story is as all of yours - bought my dream car and right away started to ask for a top up .. (. 154.000 km.) Thank goodness bought the warranty- still don't know if they will cover - but for now my mechanic is going to ( add or change ) the ' breather' and we'll see - two tests have been done and the last one was really bad every 50 km. topping.
The info about my car : Audi Q5 2011, 155.000 km. almost , 2.0 turbo engine.
my e- mail beataz@mac.com
I would be interested to add my car to the lawsuit.
Appreciate your time,

Kindest Regards,
Beata & Chris

I have been having problems
With my A4 since 2012 when I brought the car in for high oil consumption. Bought new in 2010.

Now burning 1 quart per month.

I'd love more info about this.

I live in the U.S. now and just learned that the U.S. Class action came through for this same problem.

Regards.

Hi maiorino09,
Thank you for the information. I have an Audi A4 09 that has the same oil consumption problem. Last Wednesday it stopped in the middle of the highway. Luckily no accident. I am interested in being part in the Audi Canada - Class Action suit.
Thanks

Hi everyone,

I have a 2011 Audi A4. I am going through the oil consumption issue with my dealer. I have paid $1000 to have step #2 done on my car in the hopes that it will fix the issue. I have spoken to Audi Car Care Canada ad nauseam why I have to pay for the issue when they knew about the problem. And, it is their defective motor???? Not happy. Since I have picked up the car my engine light has come on and now they're telling me I have a turbo issue??? That is going to cost me $5000!!!! What next?!?

Hi, I am from Ontario. We have a 2011 A4 (@130K km) and just paid the $600 for the oil burn check. It was below 0.5L so Audi says it is working to spec. We have to add oil every ~2 weeks, or pay the ~$5,000 to fix it. This is incredibly ridiculous as we bought the car "Certified" from Audi in Oakville. We would be pleased to join any lawsuit!

Re: Audi Canada - Class Action suit - Please contact me.

Hi, I recently purchased a used 2009 Audi A4 2.0T at 99,780km. Had to add litre of oil first day. Took for a oil change to start fresh. A week and 512km later had to add another litre. I put just over 1000km in the 2 plus weeks of ownership and 2 litres of oil. Contacted local dealer, they the oil consumption test, now going back for measuring what's left in engine. Stage 1 fix was done under warranty at 43,000km in 2012. My car is out of the extended 8 year 130,000km warranty but considerably under in mileage. I am interested in the class action lawsuit. Any advise from anyone how to proceed with the dealer or Audi corp. Thanks.

Hello,
I am a new member with a 2010 A5 2.0T CAEB engine. Regarding oil consumption, I have been going through the posts on this thread, and on another with apparently the same origin. Both threads are titled: "Re: Audi Canada - Class Action suit - Please contact me." One is 12 pages long, the other (this one) is 2 pages long.I would like to know if there is indeed a class action law suit in the works and if so who I can contact to add my name and details to the list of dissatisfied owners. Is it still the original poster (maiorino09). My apologies if I have somehow missed this critical info in the threads. Thanks in advance for your help with this.

Re: Audi Canada - Class Action suit - Please contact me.

I've been having same issue. Just had an oil change done, 3 weeks and 800km later, oil light came on. Added a liter and a week later light came on again after 400km. I'm getting pretty fed up and I had the same problem with a 2009 model A4 a couple years back. Is there any information about a class action or a place to register for one?

Thank you

Re: Audi Canada - Class Action suit - Please contact me.

HI,
I haven't seen any action on this link in a long time. I believe the class action issue came and went. Audi would cover your issue as long as you can produce every service receipt showing oil and filter every 15,000kms or less. If you cannot they may or may not honour the warranty. If you are over 130,000kms the warranty is void. If you are over 8 years the warranty is void. If you have done any modifications to engine performance (parts, software) the warranty is void.
I myself received a letter informing me of the extended warranty due to excessive oil consumption. But I have been refused due to ECU modification. Ironically the mod was upsold to me at the dealer when I bought the car new (STaSIS package) I was told it would not void any warranties. STaSIS went under (due to Audi pressure on warranty claims), and Audi and dealer are now not honouring the original agreement. When I originally talked to Audi Canada they told me I qualified, told me the problem was the wrong pistons were installed in my car. When I went to the dealer that's when Audi decided to instead refuse to warrant their faulty pistons. An ECU mod has nothing to do with the fact that the wrong pistons were installed at the factory. So I am currently SOL unless another class action for those with ECU tunes is formed. I have now been burning 1 litre/1000km for about a year. I am now also over the 8 year and 130,000 mark. Custom shop wants about $6k for rebuild. Dealer wants about $8k. What a sh*t show. Good luck to you.

Re: Audi Canada - Class Action suit - Please contact me.

Hi - another long sad Audi story

2010 A4 with the oil consumption issue
- bought used and certified by Audi inspection I paid for
- while under warranty services at audi
- excessive oil consumption complained multiple times
- eventually tested and pistons changed
- they said was just shy of requiring new engine
- new pistons etc in 2014 (under warranty)
- all oil change records etc at reputable garage spec oil)

- 139 Kms catastrophic engine failure

- they should have swapped out engine in 2014
- they knew about oil and tensioner chain issues but did nothing to warn customers and shirk accountability
- US and UK dealt with much more fairly but Canada?

Any help or advice appreciated
thx

Re: Audi Canada - Class Action suit - Please contact me.

Hi. How is the Class Action suite going? I have a 2013 Q5 that was consuming oil and that had the timing chain problem. Although both problems are well known to Audi, they said that my car was out of warranty and wanted me to pay $10K for repairs without knowing if I would be reimbursed or not. After getting hassle from my dealership (and Audi Canada) I got both issues repaired at an independent garage for a third of the price Audi was quoting. Do I have any recourse? What options do I have? Thanks.

Re: Audi Canada - Class Action suit - Please contact me.

Hi there,

I realize how late to the party I am, but I have a 2011 Audi Q5 and I am not dealing with an issue with a SECOND engine. Audi Downtown (Toronto) replaced the CAEB faulty engine with the exact same model of engine in 2015, at my expense. After recently paying for an oil consumption test, I am now being told I have to pay to have the pistons replaced on this engine. This car has been a lemon from the beginning, asking for a litre of oil 2 weeks after I drove it off the lot in 2011, and the dealership telling me "That's just how Audi's are."

Is it too late to get any assistance on this matter? Even if it's just information from other experiences.

Thanks.

i have a 2014 Audi A4 2 litre turbo with 127,000 Kim’s and it just started consuming oil in the past 2 months. Consumption is rapidly progressing to a litre in less than 500 km whereas 3 months ago it was negligible.
Contacted Audi Canada and they denied a 8 year 130,000 km extended warranty for this issue. Dealer quoted $7,000 for piston and rings.
Many help or advice would be appreciated.

I have a 2015 Q5 that is burning oil I did an oil consumption test last year and another one this year. It's shows that I am burning more than the level accepted as normal by Audi and it's getting worse progressively. I have about 115,000 kms on the vehicle. The dealer gave me an estimate of about $9,000 to fix the issue. I have done regular oil changes at the dealership. It is a pre-owned Certified Audi. They expect me to spend that kind of money on a vehicle that I have only driven for about 43,000 kms as it had 72,500 kms at the time of purchase

A year ago,I bought a 2011 Audi Q5 2.0l.with only 120km.
Since then, oil consumption has raised up to 1qt/500km.
Anyone knows if a lawsuit fits my situation?
Thanks everyone

Hello.I tried to email you but I got an automatic reply saying this email address doesn't exist. I would love to ear if any development has occurred through the years. My 2011 Audi Q5 2.0 is getting more and more thirsty even if there are only 140km under the hood.

l have just taken audi.ca to court in small claims, huntsville ont. surprise surprise, audi did not show and judge therefore allowed me compensation for my troubles and then ordered case to be re scheduled ..he also said that if they did not show again the case would be struck and presumably he would order audi to pay out my claim

I read this as good news. Keep me posted please. Meanwhile, I intend to make a try with B12 Chemtools. It seems it generated good results with other 2.0 liters engine owners.

My 2013 A4 has been burning oil since I bought it. Unfortunately it didn’t meet the threshold to have it repaired when the measurement was done. They measured after 1000KM. I’ve had to add 1L about every 1500KM. Last Friday the Exhaust valve blew up and the dealership said it was likely due to the overheating over time from the oil burning. The fix is either 9K or engine replacement. I’m ready to sign up for a class action suit.

I am interested as i too am having major oil consumption problems. 2011 audi q5 2.0t...purchased it used 6 mths ago and have been adding oil ever since. Brought it into audi dealer for oil change. They said i had to pay for oil consumption tests..and mine is a prime candidate...

Any update on this? Do we even know the law firm that's doing this?
