Hi, I am from Ontario. We have a 2011 A4 (@130K km) and just paid the $600 for the oil burn check. It was below 0.5L so Audi says it is working to spec. We have to add oil every ~2 weeks, or pay the ~$5,000 to fix it. This is incredibly ridiculous as we bought the car "Certified" from Audi in Oakville. We would be pleased to join any lawsuit!

Hi, I recently purchased a used 2009 Audi A4 2.0T at 99,780km. Had to add litre of oil first day. Took for a oil change to start fresh. A week and 512km later had to add another litre. I put just over 1000km in the 2 plus weeks of ownership and 2 litres of oil. Contacted local dealer, they the oil consumption test, now going back for measuring what's left in engine. Stage 1 fix was done under warranty at 43,000km in 2012. My car is out of the extended 8 year 130,000km warranty but considerably under in mileage. I am interested in the class action lawsuit. Any advise from anyone how to proceed with the dealer or Audi corp. Thanks.

In what year did Audi fix this issue with the 2.0T?

Audi of America has recently settled in a class action suit with our southern neighbours (USA) to the tune of over 23 million dollars. Even covering the cost of previous engine work done to Audi engines at Audi dealerships.

The issue, as many of you know, lies in the piston rings being incorrect from the factory. Audi has known this since 2008. It is a world wide problem
There is a new design for piston rings, pistons, and connecting rods for the CAEB engine.

If you have a CAEB 2.0 engine burning oil , 1 liter per 1000kms - give or take.
If you paid out of pocket for the oil consumption test part 1 or 2 you could also be reimbursed. Please contact me through audi forum.ca, if you want more info.

I have many links as well as the legal documents for the case that closed this past October 2014.

I am helping the law office build a plaintiff list. This is a class action suit with hundred or potentially thousands of plaintiffs, there will be no upfront cost to anyone, just information sent to the law office, not to me.
To fins out if your engine is the CAEB you can call your local dealer with your VIN#.

I will happily pass you the information of the law office, or vice versa, I am happy to act as a middle man.
Many of us have been living with this problem for far too long. We paid a premium for the Audi name and its heritage and its far time Audi correct this issue.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Hello,
I am a new member with a 2010 A5 2.0T CAEB engine. Regarding oil consumption, I have been going through the posts on this thread, and on another with apparently the same origin. Both threads are titled: "Re: Audi Canada - Class Action suit - Please contact me." One is 12 pages long, the other (this one) is 2 pages long.I would like to know if there is indeed a class action law suit in the works and if so who I can contact to add my name and details to the list of dissatisfied owners. Is it still the original poster (maiorino09). My apologies if I have somehow missed this critical info in the threads. Thanks in advance for your help with this.

I've been having same issue. Just had an oil change done, 3 weeks and 800km later, oil light came on. Added a liter and a week later light came on again after 400km. I'm getting pretty fed up and I had the same problem with a 2009 model A4 a couple years back. Is there any information about a class action or a place to register for one?

Thank you

HI,
I haven't seen any action on this link in a long time. I believe the class action issue came and went. Audi would cover your issue as long as you can produce every service receipt showing oil and filter every 15,000kms or less. If you cannot they may or may not honour the warranty. If you are over 130,000kms the warranty is void. If you are over 8 years the warranty is void. If you have done any modifications to engine performance (parts, software) the warranty is void.
I myself received a letter informing me of the extended warranty due to excessive oil consumption. But I have been refused due to ECU modification. Ironically the mod was upsold to me at the dealer when I bought the car new (STaSIS package) I was told it would not void any warranties. STaSIS went under (due to Audi pressure on warranty claims), and Audi and dealer are now not honouring the original agreement. When I originally talked to Audi Canada they told me I qualified, told me the problem was the wrong pistons were installed in my car. When I went to the dealer that's when Audi decided to instead refuse to warrant their faulty pistons. An ECU mod has nothing to do with the fact that the wrong pistons were installed at the factory. So I am currently SOL unless another class action for those with ECU tunes is formed. I have now been burning 1 litre/1000km for about a year. I am now also over the 8 year and 130,000 mark. Custom shop wants about $6k for rebuild. Dealer wants about $8k. What a sh*t show. Good luck to you.
