AUDI AG acquires sports motorcycle manufacturer Ducati Motor Hold

AUDI AG is acquiring from Investindustrial Group the tradition-steeped Italian sports motorcycle manufacturer Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A., which has its registered office in Bologna. The transaction will be completed as quickly as possible once authorized by the competition authorities. The Supervisory Boards of AUDI AG and Volkswagen AG approved the acquisition today in Hamburg. Ducati is known worldwide as a leading brand in motorcycle manufacture, with outstanding expertise in engine development and lightweight construction.

I know a few Ducati purists who are worried.
They need not be, Audi has a knack of getting brands to flourish. (Bentley/Lamborghini) Italian design and German build quality - great combination. |

Audi's sales grew strongly in the 2000s, with deliveries to customers increasing from 653,000 in 2000 to 1,003,000 in 2008. Although many sub-assemblies such as engines and transmissions are manufactured within other Volkswagen Group plants around the world, Audi has 7 manufacturing plants around the world.
