Default 2018 q7 “drive system malfunction. Contact service”

Hey folks. I’m new to the Audi world. Recently purchased a 2018 Audi q7 v6 3L

when I stopped one night this week in a parking lot. I received a message “drive system malfunction. Contact service”. Vehicle shuts off like normal start/stop. (The worst option ever IMO) took my foot of the brake to move and it didn’t start again. Automatically I’m in park. So now I’m unable to push it out of the way cause it’s in park and can’t change the gear. I called for a boost and wouldn’t start with a boost. So I was left to call a tow truck.

after a couple hours of waiting for the tow I tried pushing the start again just because. lol. Low and behold it started.

tried going to work in the morning. Wouldn’t start again. Took another vehicle to work. Got home and the vehicle starts

so I’m thinking it’s an alternator. The malfunction messege says it has something to do with low voltage.

Any help would be appreciated

I have recently experienced a similar problem with my 2018 Q7. Car was idling at traffic light and shut down automatically switching to park. About a week later, had a similar episode where the car was again idling at a traffic light and shut down. Car would not start this time and the Drive System Malfuction warning popped up on the dash. Brake pedal was stiff and I thought I'd have to tow the car, however, after sitting (in the intersection) for about 10 minutes, a police officer was able to start the car. Had the dealer check out the car and it cleared. However, three days later I came out of the health club and couldn't start the car with the Drive System Malfunction alert back on the dash. Brake pedal was stiff again. This time I had to tow the car because it would not start after about 30 min. It was very cold outside that day. Dealer received the car and it started just fine. It also cleared the diagnostic test again. I don't trust this vehicle. Dealer wants to replace starter jic. Not sure I'm willing to spend $2300 throwing ideas at a wall to see what sticks. Would love any input.
