Default 2008 A4 manual to auto swap and other questions.

Hi guys and girls I am considering buying and a4 and I have a couple of question.

I was wondering if any of you have insight on how difficult it is and what it would cost approximately to swap a manual trans to an automatic trans on an 2008 a4?

The other senario is that I am looking at a 2007 a4 Titanium edition that has 140 km on it and clean inside out for around $16,000.

what are your thoughts on this?

How much would it cost to replace the engine if I wanted to?

Seen that it have that amount of milage on it, should I be concern about changes to other parts?

Please advise,

Thank you.

Why would you buy an auto and switch to a manual? It would make a whole lot more sense to buy a manual off the bat. As for pricing, go and source out a manual gearbox, clutch, flywheel, pedal assembly, clutch cylinders, and ecu. Add in 5-6 hours of labour at $120/h and there's your cost.

As for the B7 Ti, that is a pretty fair price, I'm in the market for one as well but I'm looking for black or grey.

Thank you for responding, I was thinking about swapping from manual to auto, not the other way around, thanks.

Very cost prohibitive to swap transmissions either way - AT to 6sp or vice versa. Plus if it's not done properly by someone who knows what they're doing (especially Audi), you're going to be very unhappy and the costs will only go one way... guess which way?

Keep in mind a lot of electronics will need to be switched (including ECU) and along with harnesses, interior parts, etc... big $$$.

Even if someone gave me an A4 for free, I still wouldn't think of doing a swap - just not worth it unless I did it myself. And since you're asking if you should do it, I'm guessing you never have, so recommend finding a nice Auto and be happy.
