OEM HID Ballast fried....Replace with aftermarket HID Kit???

I have a 2001 A4 B5. One of the ballasts on my factory HID headlight has burnt out (burnt up bulb and connectors). OEM ballasts are ridiculously expensive. Is it possible to just buy an HID conversion kit and replace both HID setups on my headlights without any problems?

Thanks

hello, last year i still had my 2002 Audi a4 and i had same issue than you. my light were turning on but the right one was flickering like crazy and the turning off. I went to the dealership and they wanted 400$ to change the ballast.................. on top the guy told me it wont be the same colour since one will be brighter than the other one. I went on eBay and i bought a kit for 169$. i got 2 bulbs, 2 ballasts and all the wires that i need. it work 100% on my car.

here's the link of what i bought:

Installation was pretty easy but long. I had to remove the entire bumper to the remove the headlight and then I was able to reach the bulb and put everything well back. On youtube you can find video how to change the bulb on audi a4 2001-2002 and u will find someone probably doing it step by step. just follow him.
let me know if you have any question

Because I didn't want to risk the lightbuld error I went with an used OEM ballast from www.audi4parts.com in the US. Got it for $115 which is cheap. Then bought some bulbs from www.lightdepot.ca. for $45 or so. Works great. Thanks!
