Shipping An Audi

I am looking at getting an S4 (2000-2002) sometime in the near future, but they are a rare find in Nova Scotia. If I buy out of province I would need to get the car shipped. What are some good car shipping companies and what are their general prices?
Thank you.

Re: Shipping An Audi

Personal Experience: Needed to ship my car from Toronto to Edmonton! I looked for shipping COs. to ship: Few and far between... took 60 days to find Mackie. They would have loaded on a CLOSED truck and deliver to Edmonton without ever moving the car from where it was on the trailer; They called some 4 months later trying to book... I allready got the car here!
Many Cos will ship but will not guaranty for damage! "Truck-to-rail" will even deliver the car damaged (folcklor) and tell you how lucky you are that you got your car... others don't!
FREE ADVICE: go get it yourself, or get a CO. to do the whole importing for you!
Ultimately I regretated not driving the car: it was towed on a flat bed with lots of care and love... and it got here with the paint scratched and stained... I REGRET NOT DRIVING IT!

Good luck to you!

Re: Shipping An Audi

word.
I bought my S4 in Atlanta, and drove it home. hopped on a jet, flew down at 9am, got in the car at 12 (dealer met me at Atlanta airport and just threw me the keys), then drove the 800 miles home over 2 days (stopped in Cincinatti and stayed at a wicked hotel, booked on priceline for $60)

total cost of gas/hotel/plane (flew on points) was $350 and I got the car here in PERFECT shape on my schedule. Shipping was going to be about $800 to near Buffalo, which I would have had to go get anyway to bring across the border. It was also going to take 'up to a month' since they (the car companies) don't own trucks on a schedule...they just book your car on board with an independant trucker who has space. Depending where, when it's going, they can take AGES to actually book it in.

for you, you'll find something in New York. Should be a fun drive home. Just hop down and rip home same day. Go read one of the 'how to import posts' and you'll be laughing.
