Default Help

Hello there Sajeev hope all is well with you. I have an issue with an Audi A4 2010 car. So my boyfriend bout this car from a dealership and it’s a used car. However he did not even have have the car for 6 months when he realized that there is a piston ring problem with the car, he would have to top up the oil every 5 seconds when driving the car. We informed the dealership about the car but was giving us the run around, and did not fix the problem. The car is finance so he’s still paying for the car and has about 9000 left on the car. The car is completely dead at this point, we know about the cost to fix the car but we’re stuck on what to do with car. Working to pay to fix the car is a lot within itself and we can’t sell it because we are still paying for it, we also contacted Audi but they didn’t help us really... any solution to this problem?

Filling the engine with oil every 5 seconds does not seem like a piston ring problem.
Something does not makes sense from your description.

If the rings were not sealing, the compression would be so low that you could not drive the car.
There would be a constant trail of smoke coming out of the exhaust.

Have you removed the spark plugs to confirm whether the oil is getting into the chamber?

Have you done a compression test to confirm poor ring sealing?

Can you do a pressure test to check for a cracked block, or other sources of oil leak?

It does not seem like a piston ring issue? Is the car leaking oil?

Hi. This is a well known issue with the 2.0L TFSI B8 engines - engine code CPMA. And it is a piston ring tolerance issue with piston slap causing scratches in the cylinder and oil seeping past the rings. The only real fix is to replace the engine. Audi went to the CPMB with the B8.5 upgrade.
