I ended up getting the vehicle discounted by $2000 to compensate but still wonder if it would have been worth it to get the CPO warranty.
Well if you're buying an 09 with less than 80000kms or whatever the warranty was on the vehicle, you still HAVE that warranty. I believe the CPO warranty cannot be transferred but the original warranty that CAME with the car CAN be transferred even if the vehicle is in Canada. Therefore the conclusion is: CPO warranty is not transferrable when importing, but the original warranty from the US can be transferred from what I believe. Check with the dealership

It only has 2400 miles and it's in service date is July 2010 so I have the majority of the warranty! Probably won't miss the CPO

My name is Mike vh, work at the Audi dealer in London..and our understanding is..
If you go to a US Audi dealer and buy a car with CPO it wont be honored..however if you buy a car from an individual that has the CPO warranty tagged to it, it will be honored..*

* going to clarify this with the regional warranty rep

have the call out..will clarify shortly..VW has totally cut off any warranty..Audi can have some "grey" areas from what ive read in the forums. Someone should make a clear cut decision on yes or no..

The key thing regarding my initial inquiry is that I would be doing the warranty repairs in the US as I live in Windsor and an Audi dealership is only 25 miles away. I'm picking up my car on Saturday so it would be nice to know...

$4700 in maintenance over 9 years???!!!!!!! That sounds like a little less than my last repair bill at an Audi dealership!!!!!! It really is! Think you need to pack away a bit more than $1500 p.a. for maintenance and repairs. Over the past 22 years with Audis, I've probably averaged $3500 - $4000 p.a. and several years are much more than that. But, if you like driving a high performance machine that's rock solid and safe and drives circles around everyone else while leaving them way behind in your rear view mirror all winter long, well then, you'd best be prepared for shelling out some serious coin on wheels, tires, brakes, mechanical and electrical work. Plus, all the other "toys" that are on these cars can and will at times also require repair. Then again, my old beasty is actually BETTER than it was new, with all my recent upgrades, etc., so I'm not likely a typical Audi owner, but maybe similar to many others on this site.

Audi Canada DOES NOT honour the CPO on imported vehicles (even if you are in Quebec)

From the Office de protection du consommateur (Better Business Bureau?) the only thing I can do is:

1- Sue Audi USA (who would do that???)
2- Sue the salesman here in canada based on claims that my car would maybe be under warranty...

I guess I won't spend that much efforts in a car.

Just a heads up so that others who are tempted by the potential savings... it always bites you in the end...

as far as I can remember, Audi USA does not honour the CPO if the owner sells the car, so don't feel too bad.

I think the dealer may have screwed up explaining the situation to you, and an Audi issued warranty on your car will cost about $5,000 for 3 years so your situation is pretty awful. Hope you get something resolved.
